EIC's Interview with New Pages, Duotrope
Submission Deadline: May 3rd 2025
In celebration of poetry writing month, Zhagaram is now open for a special In Conversation with Poetry Issue during the month of April.

It may seem daunting to come up with 30 different poems by the end of the month, all perfect and ready for publication. Zhagaram understands the labour that goes into every poem and cherishes it. We want to celebrate Poetry Writing Month not just for the poems we write, but also for the process of it.

With the rising contamination of the arts using AI, we want to create a space where the labour of our craft is honoured.

How to Participate?

-
Start with something inherent to your culture, heritage or language as the lifeblood of your poem. You could check our Substack archives for prompts. Feel free to take inspiration from anywhere.
-
Document your thought process through notes, diagrams, photographs, paintings moodboards, or scribbles in other written or digital formats. Get creative or keep it purely functional.
-
Submit your poem along with the documentation of its process. It could be in text, handwritten, in multimedia formats, any way you express yourself.
-
You need not give us your best work. Give us something raw, something alive and untamable.

Selected poems along with its process will be featured in a special In Conversation with Poems issue.
Don't let this intimidate you if you're a beginner, the goal is to write. To stay true to the love of poetry.

All submissions must be sent via email to zhagaramliterary@gmail.com along with a cover letter giving necessary context. Include your documentation of the poem’s life as attachments in your email along with a 50-word bio.

Simultaneous submissions are allowed. Please make sure to withdraw your work as soon as possible if your work is accepted before we could.

Response Time: 1 month

Any form of plagiarism won't be tolerated. We also do not appreciate work that promotes any form of hatred.

All formats allowed as long as it can be published as a digital PDF is allowed. If you’re not sure about how to go about this, feel free to reach out to us via email.
